An Example of an Account / Client Manager Job Description

INTRODUCTION: 

  • Company overview: Founding vision, current state of affairs, size, relevant stats. 
  • Role mission: Goals, team, and resources to make it happen. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships. 
  • Manage multiple client accounts simultaneously. Ensure timely delivery of services and products according to client needs and objectives.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve client goals. 
  • Address client issues and concerns promptly and effectively. 
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between clients and internal teams and prepare and present regular client reports and updates.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities to increase account value
  • Participate in contract negotiations and renewals.
  • Oversee project timelines and deliverables for client accounts.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and account documentation.
  • Track and report on account activity, progress, and performance metrics.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience in account management or client services.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven track record of managing client accounts and building strong client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of account management principles and best practices.
  • Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in sales or business development.
  • Understanding of market trends and industry standards.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports.
  • Experience with contract negotiations and renewals.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to upsell and cross-sell within existing accounts.
