Example of a Head of Ecommerce Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Develop and lead the overarching eCommerce strategy to drive online revenue growth and achieve organizational goals.
  • Oversee all online operations, including website management, traffic acquisition, conversion optimization, and customer experience enhancements.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of digital marketers, UX specialists, developers, and data analysts to execute eCommerce objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and IT to ensure a seamless omnichannel experience for customers.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales, traffic, conversion rates, and customer retention to optimize campaigns.

  • Expertise in digital marketing channels, including PPC, SEO, social media, and affiliate marketing.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, and Tableau for data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles, customer journey optimization, and conversion rate optimization (CRO).
  • Experience in managing eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce) and collaborating with development teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to manage and inspire diverse teams.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with advanced MarTech tools, including CRM platforms, personalization engines, and automation tools like Salesforce or HubSpot.
  • Hands-on experience with UX/UI design tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Strong background in attribution modeling, A/B testing, and advanced data analytics for performance optimization.
